Featuring Sato Moughalian
Moderated by Joanna Lee
Armenian ceramicist David Ohannessian’s work transformed the face of Jerusalem. Armenian ceramic art migrated from Kütahya (in modern-day Turkey) in the final years of the Ottoman Empire to Jerusalem, where it survives today. Using newly unearthed archival findings and family narratives, award-winning flutist Sato Moughalian, in conversation with Cultural Advisor Joanna Lee, reveals her grandfather Ohannessian’s legacy in Feast of Ashes. Listen as Moughalian weaves together her personal quest and art history in a sweeping epic of migration, life and hope. As an award-winning flautist, Moughalian will open her session with live Armenian music played in collaboration with local musicians.
